When is special preparation needed for an ultrasound?

Special preparation for an ultrasound is ordered when it is necessary to ensure very good conditions for a quality ultrasound display.

For which examinations is it ordered?

For ultrasound of abdominal vessels (abdominal aorta, IVC, iliac arteries, and iliac veins). For ultrasound of renal arteries. For poor sonographic conditions due to the patient's constitution or medical condition.

What is the goal of special preparation?

To achieve emptying of the intestines and reduce intestinal gas.

Execution of special preparation for ultrasound: Purchase SAB-simplex tablets at the pharmacy.

Two days before the examination, take SAB-simplex 2x2 tablets daily.

On the day of the examination, take SAB-simplex 2 tablets in the morning.

The day before the examination, consume only non-gassy foods (e.g., polenta for dinner).

Do not eat any food in the last 6 hours before the examination.

You can drink liquids, but only non-carbonated ones.

Empty your bowels before the examination using a mild laxative.

One hour before the examination, drink enough water to fill the bladder.

Do not empty your bladder before the examination.
